Langoon illnn Alarmed by Blanket-waving Indian Beaters, Trapped Buffaloes Stampede and Plungeover aCliff toTheir Death Blackfeet hunters first built a V-shaped barrier of logs, rocks, and brush along the plain near the edge of thecliff. Indians onhorseback, with buffalo robes thrown over both riders and mounts, led their quarry into the trap. These decoys escaped as best they could when theonrushing buffaloes swept down onthem. The few animals not killed in the fall were seriously crippled and made easy targets for Indians waiting at the base with bows and arrows.
