Richmond Pearson Hobson sank the collier Merrimac inSantiago harbor, in an unsuccessful attempt to bottle up Admiral Cervera's fleet. In Morro Castle, dominating the narrow harbor entrance from the point inthe upper right, the Spaniards imprisoned Hobson after his capture.
