"I felt a little guilty so I joined a carpool." HOW MUCH ENERGY CAN ",\ ! \ BUSINESS REALLY SAVE? Business and industry account for nearly 70 per cent of all the energy used in our country. With over 12 million businesses operating today, it's no wonder they use all that fuel. If they can be more efficient in their use of energy for commercial, industrial and transportation activities, we could save a huge amount of oil. For example: A 15 percent efficiency increase would save the equivalent of about four million barrels of oil a day. That's more oil than we are importing from the Middle East right now-even with the embargo lifted! Conoco believes that business and industry should shoot for efficiency savings of at least 15 percent in their use of energy. Along with continued conservation of energy by the public, this is the best way we know to help avoid another energy crunch in the next couple of years. And, by holding down energy costs business will be taking an important step in the fight against inflation.
