And the sad strains of an old country fiddle. She is quietly completing part nine of Ken Burns' epic series "The Civil War." One of 62 telecourses offered in Public Television's Adult Learning Service. A program that reaches out to over a quarter of a million people each year. Providing educational opportunities that might otherwise be unavailable. Through courses that cover a canvas of subjects from principles of marketing management to exploring the universe. Each deands the discipline of view ing, reading, writing, researching and taking exams. (ust like on campus). And each rewards its students with credit towards a college degree. Along with skills, knowledge and a healthy dose of self-assurance. In other words, just about everything needed to succeed both in life and the work force. Except, of course, a baby- PUBLIC TELEVISION sitter. Keep us in mind.
