We dropped marker 9 in a mile-long trail of foot-wide signposts-like a yel low brick road-for future voyagers. At this same spot only 21 months later (below) giant tube worms (Riftiapachyptila)had grown to four feet, engulfing the Jericho worms and marker 9.
