Safely behind bars, photog rapher Bill Curtsinger and his assistant, Eric Hiner, get pho tographed themselves by a remote control camera as gray reef sharks close in. "They were so aggressive," says Curtsinger, "that I used my camera as a shield to keep them from sticking their heads in the cage." And they appeared in great numbers too, often cruising around the boat as soon as the team dropped anchor. "They're at the top of the food chain, and they looked healthy," says Curtsinger. "That's good."
