Allison Wignall helped raise more than $350,000 to fight AIDS That's why she's a Prudential Spirit of Community Award Honoree Allison Wignall, 18, of Newton, Iowa, has been volunteering "I believe that the her time - and talent - to promote AIDS awareness and prevention since the age of 12. Allison's hard work and dedication has e helped raise more than $350,000 for her cause - and help others earned her a 1999 Prudential Spirit of Community Award. Allison Wignall 1999 Prudenti Spirit of Community Do you know a young person who deserves Award Honoree recognition? Prudential created the Spirit of Community Awards in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals to honor young people like Allison in grades 5-12 for outstanding community service. And right now, we're looking for award candidates for the year 2000. If you know a young person who's made a difference in the community, we want to hear about it. Awards are given at the local, state and national levels. Applications will be available in September through middle schools, high schools, Girl Scout councils and county 4-H organizations. Local honorees are selected in November and become candidates for statewide honors, a $1,000 prize and a trip to Washington, D.C. At a special ceremony in the nation's capital, ten national honorees will each receive a $5,000 award, a gold medallion and a crystal trophy. Help us find next year's honorees!
