Painstaking craftsmanship at every stage assures that each miniature emblem is a work of flawless precision and accuracy. Each emblem is sculptured many times its ac tual size, to assure complete accuracy. Then, a plaster model is created. It is reduced to minia ture size by the remarkable Janvier machine, which slowly traces every line of the design. Next, a solid steel hub is made, from which the minting dies are produced. The dies are then highly polished to achieve a beautiful proof like finish.
