Will you see the islands of Hawaii through his eyes? Orthrough your own? Taking a guided tour isn't a bad way to get acquainted with the islands of Hawaii. But after a couple of hours in a bus-seeing only what the guide thinks you want to see-you may itch to get out on your own. That's where Hertz can help. Through us, or through your travel agent, you can get our All Island Special. It gives you a Ford compact or similar sedan for seven days at only $45 and 90 a mile. (And if you want to spend a bit more money you can get a convertible or an air-conditioned car.) You can pick up the car on one island, drive for a few days, return it, move on to another island, pick up another car there ... and so on... all over the four major islands. All on one rental agreement. And if you find some places you particularly like, you can stay put for a while. You get 30 days to use up the seven days of driving. But we look at it this way: There's no point going to the four major islands of Hawaii if all you see is four major hotels. Hertz can suggest some places to go and mark the roads on a map to get you there. For instance, on Oahu, you could take a trip in a glass-bot tomed boat and get a fish-eye view of the coral reefs. On Maui, you can tour the old Hale Paahao Prison, where whaling crews used to spend their nights sobering up. On Kauai, drive out to Wailu Falls, where Hawaiian chiefs used to dive off a cliff into a small pool to prove their bravery-and their aim. And finally, on the Island of Hawaii, you could drive up to the volcano of Kilauea and then take Kilauea Rim Drive around the heart of the bubbling lava pit. Just check with the Hertz office in Hilo, Hawaii to make sure there's no eruption scheduled that week. The biggest should do more. It's only right. © Er4 - sYsTEMs , I'o
