What's as portable as an outboard and requires less maintenance than an inboard? SMerCruiser Stern Drive. SMerCruiser-powered boats can be launched, beached, or trailed as easily as an outboard because the entire drive unit tilts clear of the bottom of the boat. There's no rudder, fixed shaft, strut, or rigidly-mounted propeller to damage or get in the way. MerCruisers have no holes for water intakes, stuffing boxes or exhaust outlets to leak and maintain. Nothing to damage on impact either. When striking a submerged object the drive unit simply kicks-up and rides over the obstacle. Dual hydraulic shock absorbers control the impact force, and a cut-out switch keeps the engine from over-revving if the propeller kicks clear of the water. Only MerCruiser has Jet-Prop exhaust which reduces underwater drag, improves the engine's breathing, and buries noise and fumes far behind the boat. MerCruiser's low gear reduction ratio enables use of large props for tremendous low-speed thrust without sacri ficing high-speed performance. See your MerCruiser dealer today. He'll tell you about the entire MerCruiser line from 60 to 310 hp ... and he'll also show you why more people buy MerCruisers than all other stern drives combined. mER[fIUI/SEA/ STERN DRIVE POWER PACKAGES ©1965, Kiekhaefer Corporation, Fond du Lac.
