Towers soar 625 feet; each cable contains 11,248 steel strands. Scheduled for completion in late 1966, the $75,000,000 four-lane highway bridge, even tually to carry rail traffic also, will provide Lisbon's first direct link with southern Portugal, 458 opening the region to industry and tourism.
