To make the picture, the camera was placed on firm ground overlooking this north Greenlandbay (about 78°30' N.). The shutter was snapped every 20 minutes; the sun in the center was shot exactly at midnight. Opposite page: A shower of spray at Bowdoin's starboard bow sparkles innocturnal sunlight.
