An Atlanta druggist who discovered itin1886 gave uphisinterest forlessthan $2,000. For investors the beverage has been a veritable gold mine; the Candler family sold its stock in 1919 for $25,000,000 toErnest Woodruff and associates. Some 50 million people a day buy a Coke, a soft drink available everywhere except in the Iron Curtain countries. The familiar bottle took itsdesign from thehobble skirt fashionable in the early 1900's; a bookkeeper with flowing Spencerian handwriting designed the trademark.
