Beauteous Buccaneers Hold the Author at Knife Point Dare County's annual Pirate Jamboree launches the vaca tion season on North Caro lina's Outer Banks. Cape Hatteras Light, whose 191 feet make it the highest in the United States, warns ship ping against treacherous Dia mond Shoals a few miles off shore. Uncrowded beaches lure an increasing number of visitors to the Outer Banks, a thin chain of sandy islands shield ing the North Carolina coast.
