Staff Photographer J.Baylor Roberts New Shoes Bring 50 Cents a Pair at Ephrata's Auction, if the Toes Aren't Too Pointed They are high, laced models, culled from warehouses. Stockings sell for five cents a pair; boys' knickers for 50cents. Dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and white rats are side lines. Amish, Dunkards, Mennonites, and other "Plain People" patronize these public sales, held on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Palm-leaf fans keep the customers cool. Excitement and fun are free.
