Then the Brazilian Government and the Rockefeller Foundation put an army of 2,000 doctors, technicians, and other workers inthefield. Inadramatic 19-month fight, the intruder from overseas was exterminated in the Western Hemisphere. Ever since, planes from Africa have been treated with alethal spray before landing in South America, to kill any mosquito stowaways.
