When an inspector reports a flat wheel, a splintered side, or a shifted load on a Santa Fe freight, the car is cut out of the train ... fixed "on the fly" on a repair track . . . and switched back on the same train, or the one immediately following. Ready to Roll Again A Santa Fe gondola has pulled up with a flat wheel. The car and its war load are lifted by pneumatic jacks. Within afew minutes a complete new truck of four wheels is in place, and the car is again ready to i roll.
