The National Geographic Magazine /T .. :- White Sails and Ebon Sailors Carry on the West Indies' Interisland Trade These two, part of a crew of five, man the sloop Concorda, out of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. They and their fellows, trained in the Virgins' reefs and currents, are the peers of any seamen in the Indies, one of commercial sail's last strongholds. The author found their tiny vessel laden with 14,000 coconuts. The uncovered box lined with tin is the stove; a tiny charcoal fire is kept lighted in it, when weather permits.
