Founded in 1740 as a charitable school, Penn now has an enrollment of nearly 16,000- fifth largest in the United States, and draws its students from all over the world. Its ministers were sent from abroad until 1830. The baptismal font (infront ofthe Swedish flag) was broughtfrom Sweden bySwedish Lutherans.
