In obedience to her father, the tribal chief, she rejected him again, and her lover leaped-but the winds ofBlowing Rock blew him back into herarms. Declaring her choice had been made by the Great Spirit, she defied her stern father and followed her lover into thewilderness. Strong winds attimes create ascending currents that blow back light articles thrown from the ledge. In the distance is GrandfatherMountain (see Plate II).
