The steep, narrow streets, their cobbles worn smooth, are bordered by high-walled tropical gardens and houses tinted in soft pastel shades. The hotels oftheisland, long afavorite winter' resort, nestle near the sea at the left beyond the hill. In the foreground a milkman carries his cans slung from a pole.
