In1847 itwas thescene ofadesperate battle between Mexican and United States forces. Maximilian renovated it in the grand manner of an Italian villa. To the left ofthelower endofthefamous boulevard, Paseo de la Reforma (right), are buildings of the Department of Public Health. Across the left foreground spreads the Colonia Roma, exclusive residential district.
