Elevations along theairplane routes were made by reading the altimeter as the skis skimmed the ice surface in these spots-a new method of obtaining heights insuch areas. The large scale insert shows the Alexandra and Rockefeller Mountains, definitely located and surveyed by the expedition. Many newly discovered geographical features have been named for the first time on this map.
