SOLDIERS PRESENT ARMS AND THE BAND PLAYS AS THE ROYAL GOVERNOR ARRIVES TO OPEN PARLIAMENT >gers, Jr. This Capitol building is situated in a wooded, 300-acre estate at Stormont, about four miles from the center of Belfast. Great Britain built the stately structure and gave it to Northern Ireland. Under the Act of 1920 Northern Ireland was granted a separate legislature, consisting of a Senate and a House of Commons, but executive power is in the hands of the Governor, who represents His Majesty and is advised by ministers responsible to the young Parliament.
