©Ellsworth Antarctic Expedition MOUNTAINS NEVER SEEN BEFORE BY HUMAN EYE FLASHED INTO VIEW The peaks rise 12,000 feet near the Hearst Land coast, on the mainland of Antarctica. Ellsworth sighted them asheflew over Stefansson Strait tothe continent and named them Eternity Range. He found them a striking contrast to the flat, low peaks of the Antarctic Archipelago, which hehad followed from Dundee Island. From their appearance he believes them to be of sedimentary origin (page 8).
