Foxhound, greyhound, and possibly bloodhound and spaniel blood are included in its lineage. Germans bred their SHORT-HAIRED POINTER (left) as hunter and retriever on landor inwater. AScot isthe GORDON SETTER (right), named after a duke of Gordon. Many American specimens came from Scandinavia, where these one-man dogs have long been popular.
