THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE Photograph by John Patric SAILING UP THE WICOMICO RIVER, A WATERMELON STORE COMES TO SALISBURY The Louise Travers, of Crisfield, carries an engine as well as canvas. Piled high with her juicy cargo, she ties up at a park near the center of town. Such town-to-town delivery of crabs, fish, tomatoes, and other products of the Eastern Shore is made all along Chesapeake Bay and up its estuaries. The reflection in the water is so clear that the picture looks almost the same turned upside down, except for the wavy lines.
