Despite chill winds from the Black Sea and snowy Olympus, theskifields of which bring new life to the abandoned capital, many of its houses are flimsy, unlike Ankara's ultramodernapartments. Bursa resisted aten-year siege before it became the residence of the early sultans and their artists, poets, holy men, and historians.
