No. 12.-The inhabitants of the Calaminanes group spend most of their time in gatheringedible birds' nests, sea cucumbers, turtles, shells, and a few pearls, which they sell to passing vessels. Their agricultural methodsare exceedingly backward, though the soil of their islands is very fertile.
