MOSCOW IN WINTER When bleak, white winter settles over the City of Moscow her energies are caught and subdued byitsmight. Allwheel traffic ceases, the streets become almost bare of pleasure strollers, and all that moves without under the leaden, stinging skymoves hurriedly, with adefinite goal in view, and takes the shortest course. Moscow lives under a reddened sun but for a short timeeach day. Only thecabman, with hisdozen coats, a creature thick beyond imagination, cares to loiter chill afternoons and evenings out of doors.
