oo CASTLE RIED AT BOZEN Bozen is an exuberantly progressive commercial city of nearly 14,000 inhabitants, situated in a beautiful niche inthesouth Tyrolese Alps. Although hard upon the Italian border, it is German-speaking, a thoroughly Teutonic town amid Italian surroundings. The famous German Min nesinger, Walther von der Vogelweide, according to some accounts, was born on a farm just above this city in1170. Astatue has been erected in Bozen to his memory.
