0 THE MARKET-PLACE IN THE TOWN OF TIRANA: ALBANIA The Albanian townsman affects two types of headdress-a white skull cap and a scarf twistedaround hishead and under hischin, after the fashion of a Bedouin. Cattle-raising is the chief source of livelihood for the mountain tribes. Thesmall pack donkeys loaded with wood, tobeseen in the middle distance, bespeak the fact that wheeled vehicles are seldom encountered in the hilldistricts, owing totherough trails which, by courtesy, are called roads. In southern Albania the Italian army of occupation is now building many miles ofunsurpassed highways (see page no).
