THIS IS A DISTANT VIEW, BUT STILL IT SHOWS EXAMPLES OF CONES WITH DOORS OR HOLES OF INGRESS HIGH ABOVE THE GROUND There are no visible finger-and-toe holes, as on page 285. They have merely rotted away in thecourse of the ages. The picture isotherwise interesting, as it shows us garden and desert lying side by side. The garden is easy to see, while the desert lies inthe very foreground, where the bare pumice-stone is not disintegrated as yet.
