Compare the under side of the cap with that of the common mushroom (page 400) and other gill-mushrooms included inthis article. In the fleshy tube-fungi, instead of gills (see page 390), the under side of the cap exhibitsalayer ofsmall, vertically placed tubes, on the inside of which the spores (see pages 392, 405, and 415) are borne.
