The larger sailing vessels buy the fish and transportthem tomarkets inthe larger cities, and the smaller boats offer their catches for sale. Most of the fish are split open, salted, and spread out on the rocks todry. After their tails have been tied together, they are hung upon wooden frames until the following June, when they are shipped to Bergen. Theheads aredried and pulverized for fertilizer.
