Journey to I -I) ) /'- \ TEXT AND PHOTOGRAPHS BY DAVID DOUBILET In a far corner of the Indian Ocean four islands rise. Their names are like whispers on the wind: Aldabra, Cosmoledo, Astove, Assumption. Remote and undisturbed, preserving murmurs of ancient life, they are an oceanic refuge where batfish chase bubbles beneath a mirror-calm surface and frigatebirds swoop for prey. To explore them requires a voyage by sea and, I discovered, a passage back in time.
