Pall-covered body of an Afghan refugee woman is borne from the Aza Khel refugee camp to burialon a knoll more than a mile away. The woman died in childbirth,but her infant lived. Afterward the men of the camp engage in afternoonprayer (below). One and a half million Afghans have sought refuge in Pakistan since the Soviet Union sent troops into their homeland in late December 1979.
