Canada's War Effort 559 A Maple Leaf Air Force Unit Escorts Canada's Victory Torch in Ottawa With swinging stride, they take the symbol to the House of Commons. The torch was exhibited in Canadian cities to stimulate a war loan drive, then flown 7,000 miles by bomber from Vancouver to London. Britain's Prime Minister Receives the Canadian Victory Torch Ian Mackenzie, Canada's Minister of Pensions and National Health (right), presented the torch to Mr. Churchill at a simple ceremony in London. In civilian attire, at left, are C. G. Power, Canada's Minister of National Defense for Air (page 555), and Vincent Massey, Canadian High Commissioner.
