Langdon Kihn "Now You See It, Now You Don't"-Sioux Indians Played the Moccasin Game for High Stakes Sometimes the bettors, in desperation, gambled their wives away at this sport, which resembles the old fashioned pea-and-shell game. Ladderlike frames in this comfortably outfitted tepee are lazy-backs, or back rests, which took the place of chairs. Beds are rangedaround the wall. Containers and war trappings hang from the poles. The center fire kept such a tepee warm in winter.
