KONKA RISUMGONGBA, HOLY MOUNTAIN OF THE OUTLAWS LA KANG TING, OR WAERHDJE MONASTERY (SEE, ALSO, COLOR PLATE XXIV), THREE DAYS NORTH OF MULI Waerhdje, or Wachin, is the oldest monastery in the Muli kingdom. The chanting halls were built more than 400 years ago. The king has a large palace here (lower right) of comparatively recent construction (about 60 years old). The Litang River can be seen in the distance. The last high peak visible in the picture is Mount Mitzuga, on the slopes of which Muli Lamasery is situated (see illustration, page 2).
