@Arial Explorations, Inc. THIS REMARKABLE PHOTOGRAPH LED TO THE ORGANIZATION OF THE EXPEDITION Lieutenant Johnson took the picture while on a reconnoitering flight over the Colca Valley in 1928. It aroused theinterest ofNew York historians and became a prime factor in the subsequent survey. Four villages show distinctly: Ichupampa, in the left foreground; Yanque, rightcenter; Coporaque, lefttopcenter; Chivay, top center. The village of Lari, where the landing field was made, is just out of the picture, below Ichupampa.
