When the emigrants could safely return to France, they deserted their wilderness town, called Asylum. Onthis same river itwas planned toestablish a Utopian community patterned by Robert Southey and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. But, much to the latter's disappointment, funds could notbeobtained to finance the project.
