These hands of Fatima are supposed to bring extraordinary luck.No Arab child or woman isever without them. Fastening her garment is a curious pin, the kind used all over northern Africa. On her arms are silver open-work bracelets, and dang ling from the pin is a silver chain with hands of Fatima and other charms. In countries where povertyissogreat that itisimpossible towear these ornaments of silver they are made of a white metal and always greatly decorated.
