T HE rotation of the earth is the most uniform movement in the universe. It does not vary a tenth of a second in ten thousand years. Time, the director of all human effort, is derived from the stars and the rotation of the earth. The time which you know is star time, trans lated into standard time by astronom ical calculations. Star time comes first hand to the Elgin Factory from the Elgin Ob servatory, in charge of an astronomer of world-wide reputation. Elgin time, the scientifically correct translation of star time, is carried to a masterclock by which every Elgin Watch is ex actly adjusted. It is maintained for the single purpose of giving Elgin watch owners timepieces of accuracy as unvarying as is humanly possible to obtain. The man or the woman who owns an Elgin carries a chronometer of unquestionable worth-dependable, of fine repute, the product of infinite pains. There is no gift more acceptable than a watch-there is no more acceptable watch than an Elgin. Your jeweler, an Elgineer, will endorse it. He knows. Send for "Time Taking, Time Keeping," a little book that tells how Elgin time is taken from the stars at the Elgin Observatory. Send stamped and addressed envelope for set of Elgin Poster Stamps. G.
