Folsom CHURCH AND WALTER ON THE TRAIL The bears of this region are only slightly inferior in size to the Kodiak bear, the largest carnivorous animal in the world, and the members of the expedition, following a well-worn bear trail, feared meeting one. After several days on this trail without encountering anything but tracks, they began to fear lest they should not see one.
