One of the temples at Honanfu marks the burial place of the white horse which legend says was led by the missionary monks from India who first introduced Buddhism into China (see text, page 134). Near the city is Hanku Hsinkwan, where General Hsiang Chi of Chu buried alive ioo,ooo captive soldiers in the third century B. C .
