OL.A.Huffman MANDAN CHILDREN NEAR THE INDIAN SCHOOL ABOVE THE MOUTH OF THE LITTLE MISSOURI Long ago the ancestors of the Mandans lived in the Mississippi Delta region. They migrated northward, and for atleast three centuries the tribesmen have dwelt on the banks of the Missouri, gradually working their way up the stream. They received the early white explorers hospitably.
