A video he produced of "vines, leaves, and moss, mingled with shattered plaster, curling paint, and rusted iron," has helped secure millions of dollars of state and federal funding to stabilize the historic buildings. The work has already begun. "The place will never again look as it does in these photographs," Wilkes says.
