On the edge of five-year-old Francis Mañosca’s coffin (above), mourners left food for chicks to peck at— a custom meant to prick the conscience of the killer. The boy and his father, Domingo Mañosca, were shot in their home. They left behind Francis’s sisters, ages nine and one, and Domingo’s wife, then nine months pregnant. A hearse (below) carries Hongco’s coffin to the cemetery as some of his relatives walk behind.
